II. FAQ
DR-specific Questions [^]
DR? So this is not a full reboot of Purg?
No, not quite. However, we're hoping for this to be an active and fun place with serious but also plots of a less serious variety. Depending on everyone's participation, this could very well be treated as "full RP" rather than just a random dressing room.
Who can apply?
Any character who has been in Purgatorium at some point of its existence can apply. New characters have to be cleared by the mods first. For information on how to apply, go here.
What about multiples? People dropped and others picked their characters up, what if they all want to bring in their character?
Despite the game being called a dressing room, multiples of one character are only allowed if they're brought in by separate players. This will likely change in the near future if interest is expressed in this change (to do so, go here), and there will be events like fourth wall (or variations of) where any number of multiples can post together.
So there are no activity checks and you can't get kicked for inactivity?
Characters are never kicked for inactivity. If your character is removed from the community/taken list due to a lack of activity during a clean out, simply join again and resume posting. Please, when you return, remember to comment the appropriate entries so that we're all on the same page. The Taken List is more of a list of characters to appease the mod's OCD, and contact reference to make it clear for everyone who plays who and how to get in touch with each other.
What happens when characters become inactive but haven't dropped?
Characters should act as if the character in question is present and simply quiet on the network until a month has passed. At which point the character would disappear, in the same fashion as characters that are dropped or removed from the game. If and when the player returns with the character they may determine whether their character returned home, disappeared to an alternate realm of Purg where nothing changed for them, or time had simply frozen.
Where do we post? Are action-tags allowed?
Like in any dressing room, posts are made in the community. This can be either a journal post on the network (the standard posting form of Purg) or a log post if you wish to do something in prose. Action-tags are allowed, too, but be sure to mark it so there's no confusion.
Appropriate tags are as follows:
[voice] [text] [action]
Be sure to also add your character's name to the tags of the post.
Are characters still here because of their sins? What's the point of this DR?
That is what they are told. Basically, it's still the same concept as the original Purgatorium before it.
The characters that stayed until Purg closed, will they still think they're in the normal Purg?
This is not Purgatorium. Characters who were dropped and rejoin may notice subtle differences. They may dismiss it as the nature of Purg, constantly changing - or they may realize that something is actually different. Anyone that remained in Purg until the end will think they are still in the same Purgatorium.
If I dropped my characters before the closing of Purg, can I bring them in now with updated canon, or do they have to be the versions I played before?
They can be updated without issue, as long as they remember their time in Purg. This works the same way it did in the original Purg when you dropped and later re-apped a character. Taking the character from before you brought him/her into Purgatorium is considered the same as bringing in a new character ICly, however follows the same application process as previously played characters.
What controls who comes and goes in Purg?
The Powers of Purgatorium.
Who or what are the entities in Purg that are considered 'Powers'?
First and foremost Purg is watched over by The Presence, something like a sort of parent. This is not a God, though — rather, it is something more of a Celestial Babysitter. Your character will be informed that they must redeem themselves in the eyes of the Presence, in order to return home. However the reality of leaving once a character has arrived in Purg is not always so simple - there are disappearances that even the Presence can not acccount for.
Despite the existence of the various Powers in Purgatorium - sometimes the land itself seems to make its own decisions.
Any Gods that previously ran Purg (including but not limited to Hera, Thylas and Zhygure) are considered Player Characters. Those players are invited to do as they wish with those characters, whether they would remain in Purgatorium or not. They may run their own events, use their powers to help or hinder mortal characters etc. - however, they no longer hold control over the fates of anyone else in Purg.
There are also number of Spirits that exist within the city that may now and again stir up chaos.
I have a question about [this character], who do I talk to?
In regards to characters that were formerly NPCs, questions now go to the player rather than the mod team. A small list of possible characters is below, if you have a question about player characters, please contact the player. If you're not sure if a character is a player character or not leave a comment here.
Thylas - contact Katie
Zhygure - no longer in game
Hera - no longer in game
Alma - contact Suu
Orion - contact Ed
Although some of these characters still play a somewhat NPC role, being a prophet of the Presence or running events they are still player characters and in no way associated with mod activities. Mod events will be run through a NPC journal.

Basics [^]
Where is my character?
Characters will be told that they are in the city of Purgatorium. It is not a happy place to be; the streets are empty, the décor bland and the town itself borders on flat out darkness. There is nothing remarkable about Purgatorium; it is meant to increase madness with its nothingness. However, characters returning and remembering Purgatorium might feel that there is something 'different' about it, even if the layout of the city is still remarkably similar to what they remember.
Why is my character there?
Characters are informed upon arrival that they are sent to Purgatorium in order to redeem themselves for transgressions made in their lifetime. Whether they are dead or alive doesn't matter - if they caught the attention of the Powers that Be, they will find themselves in the city.
Can my character leave?
Your character will be informed that they must redeem themselves in the eyes of the Presence, in order to return home. However the reality of leaving once a character has arrived in Purg is not so simple: Magical barriers block any possible exit or will lead you right back into the city if you wander too far. There is, however, the possiibility of disappearances the Presence can not account for.
Can my character die?
Yes. Being in Purgatorium does not mean they are immortal; all inhabitants are fully capable of dying. If you die, the first time -- you must remain dead for 3 days. A second time, you would add two days onto the original penalty, so five days. And etcetera. They can come back after that point, but will find that they are then missing a memory from their past. Every time they die, they shall come back and shall lose another part of their memory, until they forget everything and know only Purgatorium. Note: These 'memories' are memories of their time before Purgatorium.
Will my character know why they are here?
Yes. Upon arriving in Purgatorium, they will find themselves in a temple, tended by Alma, a Prophetess. She is a kind and somewhat gentle sort, and she'll explain the whole of Purgatorium to them. The nature of their Sin, however, may or may not be within Alma's scope of understanding. It is up to you, as the player, to decide if she knows and can tell your character. Alternately your character may speak to Orion, although the same rules apply.
Who is doing this?
It's a mystery. It seems to be a combination of things, including acts of the world of Purgatorium itself. The Gods have changed several times, and they seem to be chosen by the world. Although the original Gods are no longer present, there is a Presence watching over the people of Purgatorium who is akin to a parent. This is not a God, though—rather, it is something more of a Celestial Babysitter, it seems. The Presence itself cannot speak directly to anyone but its Prophet—in this case, Alma Kavanaugh, and Orion Luis who are living within the Temple itself and maintaining the altars.
Why are there some with only minor sins present, whilst others with greater sins are not in the city?
Characters are not chosen based upon the weight of the sin, but rather on who would fare most interestingly within the city. This sometimes means that those with only slight sins find themselves in Purgatorium.
What can my character expect in the Purgatorium?
To struggle. Purgatorium is not a paradise; they will not find things easily. The city itself houses only the bare necessities to keep a person alive, so everything else will have to be found, created or otherwise obtained. (To clarify: please don't think your character can just come in and not have to worry about finding work, food or shelter. Such things are not offered freely and must be obtained through hard work.) A character can ask the Altar for non-food items, but there is a distinct chance they won't receive it unless they have lived in Purgatorium a while and have been living a good life. Further details about the lifestyle are here.
The City [^]
What is the city like?
If you have any questions about locations and the layout of Purgatorium, please ask a mod. A new map is in the works, but until then there are old maps and descriptions to go on.
Purgatorium is separated into two sections: the ground level and the upper level. All characters will first arrive in the ground level; it is a dirty, rotting place that contains next to nothing. The upper level is a better; it possesses running water, electricity, nicer homes, light, and things the lower level lacks. One can live a relatively normal life on the upper level. The lower level has no light whatsoever. The only buildings that have light are those places of business that have earned it and pay the Powers with offerings for it. Note: Due to in-game improvements, the lower level now has bathhouses (for a fee), and some of the homes have been reconstructed with wood-burning fireplaces and to provide better shelter.
There is a river that divides the lower level in nearly half. There are two bridges that connect either side of the river. One can find the unpleasant homes scattered around the city as well as bathhouses.
North of the river, to the west, there is a church hidden in the trees. Further north there is a dungeon by the name of Drachama. In the far north eastern corner of Purgatorium, there's a Mansion, only accessible by permission of Thylas. This northern area is mostly covered by forest and hills, and is harder to trek.
Directly south of the river, near the center of town, there is the Clock Tower. It is the tallest thing in the city and stands above all. Directly south, there is the fountain, nothing more than running water. It is most often used as a directional point for all who enter it. If one were to follow the river West, then they would find another dungeon by the name of Obol here.
Slightly southwest of the Clock Tower, one could find the hospital a filthy place ridden with sin and terror. It is not recommended for just anyone to enter.
To the east of the Clock Tower, towards the south, there is both the dungeon by the name of Chalkoi. And then there is the School. A place that if you enter, you are guaranteed to go mad.
Lastly, there is a Temple of white stone in the east.
For further information on locations, creatures and other things, please refer to the database.
Are there monsters in the city?
In the lower level, monsters are quite common. In the upper level, monsters are quite rare and strong, but those that can be found and defeated will leave items for their slayer(s) that can be traded for something of great value. In both cases, the monsters are simply ones taken from other worlds, so don't be surprised if your character encounters a familiar foe. Monsters are also one of the few things available for lower level residents to eat, most of them don't taste very good but they will sustain a character and can be seasoned if you have friends that can get things from the upper level to help.
For a list of common monsters found in Purgatorium, go here.
Is [insert currency here] accepted in Purgatorium?
Characters survive on a trading and bartering system, so unless someone is interested in trading your character for their currency it is useless in the city.
What about health care?
There are both doctors and medicines available in the upper level, but neither of these come cheaply. Even your average pain reliever will cost your character a fair amount (or something extremely valuable) so they better have something worth bartering for it. The only available health care in the lower level is that set up by doctors who have also ended up in Purgatorium, and the care they are able to offer is limited.
Why can't my character find the shops in the lower level?
Possibly because the location of the shops change from time to time. It will be in one area one moment and in another the next. Please note that the time frame for this is entirely random and unpredictable. Also note that only the NPC shops relocate randomly, usually - shops created by characters remain in one place unless the entire terrain of Purgatorium has changed. If you're curious to know if your character can find something in a shop, please ask.
We always sort of assume there are NPCs on the upper level. Is that correct?
Yes, stores or restaurants on both the upper and lower level not run by a player character are NPC run stores.
Characters [^]
My character has [insert magical/non-magical ability here]. Can s/he use them in Purgatorium?
No. All powers are restricted for the first ten days in Purgatorium and returned to the character only after they have gained access to the upper level. Even after that time period they are still much more draining to use. Obviously, we reserve the right to slap you upside the head and tell you your character is being too powerful. Think of it like... magic is triple MP cost for maybe 3/4ths the power.
Note on powers: Anything that would remain would be a power that can be considered more of a hindrance. You will have nothing that remains to be a help to your character. Weapons WILL be taken away until they have upper level access. They may find someone to GET A WEAPON for them, but it will not be the one from home; and of lesser quality.
If you have a question concerning this, feel free to ask.
My character suffers from [insert disease/disability/injury here]. Will s/he still have it in Purgatorium?
In most instances, yes. As long as it is not immediately life threatening or would prevent them from suffering, then their problem will remain. (Examples of things that would be healed before entering Purgatorium include: fatal wounds received prior to entering and the inability to feel pain.) However, for all disabilities that remain, such as blindness, inability to walk, or deafness, there are cures that can be found in the upper levels of the city. (Note: CURES ARE COSTLY. Please consult with a moderator before considering this.)
How does my character move from the lower level of the city to the upper level?
1.) They must have resided in Purgatorium for at least 10 days.
2.) Your character must have a job of some sort; while it's sort of every man for himself on the lower level as far as housing goes, residents are required to leave an offering at the temple to maintain an upper level home. [This includes characters like Tobias, who were exempt due to not having a 'home' but as a hawk would want sunlight, so he would need to make his offerings in order to get that sunlight, too.]
3.) You must be working on your sin, so to speak; or, at the very least, you must be showing a significant attempt to live a happy life in Purg. All caught trying to sneak their way into the upper level will be immediately returned to the lower level and banned from consideration for moving up for two weeks. This also applies to powers, as mentioned here
(To apply or see a current list of upper level residents, please go here)
Characters who do not want to live on the upper level can apply for privileges.
After a character has been in Purgatorium for ten days, they gain upper level access after the first day of work, but a consistent effort must be kept to maintain a proper lifestyle, remaining on the job and continuing to try to improve and/or live normally. You can't go to work one day, gain upper level access, quit your job and continue to go to the upper level. Similarly, upper level access and powers are synonymous - except in special mod approved instances. Ask a mod if you'd like to be considered for this - a character can not have their abilities without following these rules and gaining upper level access, and a character that wishes to access the upper level will regain their powers by default. Characters can NOT gain upper level access without requesting it in the upper level application post.
What about health? (not health care, the actual health of people). Can they get sick?
It is possible to suffer the symptoms of a cold or fever in Purgatorium.
Going with that the body is essentially dead, can characters still be poisoned?
Yes. Characters can still be poisoned, and get infections.
If the body is effectively dead, do scars fade? Do hair/nails/etc. grow?
Hair and nails grow, bodies do not mature. Characters do not grow taller, hit puberty or old age unless they arrived that way.
Do women menustrate? Can people have sex?
Yes, the body is still functioning, blood still flows, lungs still breathe.
My character is redeemed and no longer commits their sin. Does this mean I have to drop him/her?
No. Characters who have totally redeemed themselves do not have to leave Purgatorium if they wish to remain. In some instances characters may earn keys that will let them into a much more pleasant afterlife, or return them to their own world. Characters who do not have keys, are not redeemed, or seem to disappear against their will are considered to have been sent somewhere else by Purgatory itself, out of control of the Powers in charge.
Keys?
Keys are items earned by characters who redeemed themselves from sin in accordance with previous events. These characters may choose whether to use the key to leave Purgatorium or simply hold onto it for a variety of small bonuses. The purposes of the keys is to unlock the Gate into Paradise, which is located in front of the Clock Tower, however no character is obligated to use the keys for this purpose if they wish to remain in Purgatorium. Future events may provide more characters with a chance to earn keys, but for now characters with keys are limited to those who earned them in the Hera plot.
Can a character return from Paradise, then?
Yes, if they begin to act out, or went home rather than Paradise, but it's generally better to reset a character if you decide you want to bring them back. (The same character picked up by another player will always be considered a different instance).
Jobs & Housing [^]
What kind of work can be obtained in Purgatorium to gain upper level access?
The most available work is maintenance--helping rebuild houses and fixing things enough so that they don't completely fall apart. There is also the option of working in any of the shops--the shops in the lower level are basic; you can get food, but not the already prepared sort and you can get material for clothes, but not pre-made clothes and such on. Another option is to join the guard--that which roams the lower levels, defeating monsters and making sure that rules are not broken. There is also the possibility of finding a job on the upper level. Characters will be allowed on the upper level only for work and must return as soon as they finish. Lastly, your character can simply settle for doing odd jobs required by other characters.
A list of character run jobs that are always hiring is here.
Can my character start their own company?
Yes! Citizens of both the lower level and the upper level are welcomed to start their own organization. The Powers will even help out, especially if it is for the betterment of the whole city. The deal offered to such citizens is always the same: they will be provided with what is absolutely necessary to get started (not what will make it fun or easy) in exchange for payment once business starts to come in. (And, once the character has shown they will stick with their business and are making a profit, the Powers will be more lenient in what they will offer, so long as they are still paid back.) 'Payments' to the Powers can be made in the form of offerings at the Temple with each request.
What counts as job?
A person has to actively be doing something for it to count as a job. Being hired and having a job title gets a character nowhere if they're not doing any actual work. Doing something for the betterment of the community on their own with no employer still counts as a job.
What are houses in Purgatorium like?
Beds -
→ Lower level: Suck. Matresses are worn out and sheets suck.
→ Upper level: Less suck. Have decent sheets, and things like that.
Kitchens -
→ Lower level: Don't exist as you know them. All stoves would be WOOD burning.
→ Upper level: Has them, and other things. Most things need to be purchased.
Living Rooms -
→ Lower level: Don't exist. Build your own chairs and things. Or get them from someone on the lower level, to build it for you. May have one crappy couch or something.
→ Upper level: Couches, chairs, etc.
No furniture can be transported from the upper level to the lower level unless it was originally built on the lower level.
How do you claim houses on the upper level, just like you do on the lower level, by entering and saying 'yay this is mine'?
Houses are claimed on the upper level the same way they are claimed on the lower level. Characters may enter, to look around and determine that the house is right for them, however they will find themselves unable to move in until providing the proper offering at the Temple.
There is no running water on the lower level so the only way to use a toilet is an outhouse or ~*out in the nature*~ right?
Bathhouses are equipped with the proper facilities for anyone willing to pay for it.
Communication [^]
How do the characters communicate within Purgatorium?
There are termianls set up throughout the city, for free use by all. Smaller buildings and one family homes contain one in a main living area, larger buildings may have a few on different floors. They come equipped only with the journalling system and PIMP (the IM service of Purgatorium, where IC chats take place) All terminals are bolted to the ground, immobile and indestructable.
What is the journalling system like?
Like Livejournal, only limited to people in Purgatorium. This means that, yes, others can see your userpics when posting. Details on userpics are explained here. All journal entries are by default text, but they may also be turned into voice posts. If you wish to do this, simply put 'Voice Post' or some such in your subject line. [there is currently a method for those who are blind to be able to have the text read to them, and other options explained below]. There is no Video Post option, if there was in the past it is gone now and has been for awhile. Voice, and Text posts only.
How does my character post to the system, and how can everyone understand each other?
ON HANDICAPS: The network can translate, so that characters who are blind can make a text post by speaking into the system and have text posts read out loud to them by the system. Similarly, characters who are mute/deaf can make voice posts with an option that reads what they type. SO EVERYONE CAN READ/HEAR/INTERPRET A POST, REGARDLESS OF HOW IT'S POSTED.
ON LANGUAGE: If you have the intent and knowledge that Purg can auto-translate your language for others, it happens automatically.
In other words, if you post publicly with the intent of sharing with the community at large, and know that Purg translates what you say - your words will be translated. There is an option not to translate, and in the case of de-aging plots, confused new arrivals, or certain other situations where characters are too stressed/confused to realize it, their words may or may not be translated at player's discretion.
I play Character A. Character B and C have a conversation marked as private and unhackable in my journal. Can I, as the journal owner, still view it?
On the journals, security -- > an example:
Hallelujah makes a post.
Grimmjow comments.
Viral makes a private//unhackable comment to Grimmjow.
Grimmjow makes a private//unhackable comment back.
The owner of the post, in this case Hallelujah, may be able to see these comments. So, use discretion when making comment threads of this nature.
Although we'd prefer people not spam other's journals with private messages to someone else. Take it to your own journal or PIMP.
Also, please keep in mind that if something is listed as private//unhackable in your character's journal, it's still common courtesy OOCly to get permission before your character hacks that thread.
Can characters ban other characters from reading their entries?
You can not block/put someone on ignore. Ever. From commenting on an entry. Really, if your character can't stand them and it's IC to do so, just ignore them. You can filter things to or from certain characters, but anything posted publicly or without a specific filter can be seen by everyone, no exceptions.
There's an IC chat?
Yes. Chat is considered canon-ish. It is meant for characters to take time out relaxing away from the day to day crazy, and while there is crazy stuff going on in there~ everyone is really good about behaving IC, so we'll keep it that way. Just remember, ic-chat =/= ic-crack.
Some functions on it are: away/idle, personal, community chat. Also there's a voice function, chat works similarly to the journaling system in that regard.
You can not block, ignore, or any of the advanced functions, if you're in chat everyone can see your character in chat, and see everything they are saying - whether or not they recognize them is up to the players.
Private conversations should be taken out of chat to the private messaging system or a journal entry.
About userpics
Icons are like a photographed frame of the character, while posting. It depicts the mood of the character, so if a character is upset - but hides it well - the player is free to choose an icon depicting the true emotion or the emotion the character would attempt to portray while posting. There is no explanation ICly for how the images show up, no character knows what their icon is going to look like until their post is made. Icons are meant to show an overall mood, so outfit differences are not relevant, if your character only wears a specific outfit and you use icons of varying canon points make sure it's clear in your profile or somewhere that your character dresses differently. Icons with text will only be seen as an image to characters, text only icons are not visible as anything and icons that show two characters will only be visible as having both characters if both characters are in the thread. (It can, however, be assumed that the character in the thread is in the icon instead - where appropriate.)
Game Mechanics [^]
What is time/day system like?
It is your average schedule; twenty-four hours in a day, half of which is light and half of which is dark. Please note, however, that daytime in the lower level is still extremely dark--you want sunshine, you must reach the upper level. (Also, it is to be noted that Purgatorium has all four seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter.) Also, everyone is on the same schedule, Purgatorium runs on EST time, so please try to keep that in mind when posting.
Is there a curfew for the upper level?
Characters with Privileges but no Residental Access are allowed to remain on the upper level for 4 nights a month. However, they can only stay a maximum of 3 nights in one week. This is to give the option of spending one night per week on the upper level. Characters who have not earned their upper level access may only be up there for work-related reasons.
Once characters have used up their nights, they can not spend the night on the upper level. No sleeping over someone else's house, just because you can get up there. Anyone sleeping on the upper level needs to be paying some form of rent for their time there. If a character wants to spend the night with another character who lives on the lower level, it must be done on the lower level. There is no curfew for characters with Residential Access, but those with Privileges may not remain up there at night once their allowed number of nights are used.
Can characters that canonly control lightning or some sort of energy source - i.e. Final Fantasy - energize their lower level home without needing electricity?
Characters that would have some ability to energize their own home would find themselves completely drained after only a few hours of doing so. This is fine if they need only a few hours to work on something daily, they could not sustain their home on a regular basis with this method.
Several characters in Purg have/had "labs" but how do they run those if there's no electricity? Is there some kind of special privilege because organizations get electricity?
There were times that obtaining energy was easier than it is today. What resources characters had to run non-sanctioned buildings was still very limited. Electricity is controlled kind of like Purg's 'breathing'-- it goes to where it should, and it's not constantly upkept, but if the receiver is gone, the flow stops. This isn't to say that someone can't find a way to store or reactivate old electricity sources, but that's not sanctioned by Purg and could earn them some trouble
Characters have weapons. How do you keep having ammunition? NPC stores on the upper level? Can you make it yourself?
If you could heat metal enough to melt it, you could. Ammo is upper level shoppable. Crappy old ammo is also available on the lower level, but it's like throwing rocks at a monster for the most part.
How exactly do people shop on the upper level? There are NPC stores, not just character-kept stores, right?
NPCs exist on both levels, with varying levels of power - the same as characters. Both NPC and character run shops exist on the upper and lower levels.
Can furniture be transported from the lower level to the upper, then back down?
If it originated on the lower level, there's no reason it can't be returned to the lower level, and there's less restriction on the upper level - so if it's allowed on the lower level in the first place of course it can be moved to the upper level.
Upper vs lower level:
The lower level only has the general store for basic inventory. The upper level has the following:
Toys, games, and entertainment
Everything can only be gotten on the upper level. And it is costly.
YES
→ Blocks
→ Puzzles
→ Crayons/Markers/Pencils/Pens
→ Paper
→ Cards
→ Books
→ Instruments
NO
→ Video games
→ Computers
→ Designer Toys (Mechs, Gameboy, things like that).
→ Televisions
→ Movies/Theaters
→ Glitter
Items aside from what is mentioned in "yes" above.
→ Food
→ Water
→ Clothing
→ Alcohol
→ Candy [expensive]
→ Fabric, to make clothing
If in doubt, ask.
How do I eat?
There's a couple ways to get food and water.
Water -
→ From the rivers
→ Springs
→ Gods have used some of the former pits created by Neffe's disaster, to fill with water, reopening them where necessary.
Purification devices were created by characters when no fresh water was available. These items may still be used to maintain cleaner water for drinking.
Food -
→ Very basic food like bread and dough is available in the shops on the lower level. Alternately, kill monsters, catch fish, build fires and cook.
→ On the upper level, you'll find a bit more variety in stores to get actual ingredients and supplies, and houses have kitchens for proper cooking.
Do they sell condoms in Purgatorium?
Condoms are available, for a price, however most diseases can not be caught in Purgatorium and - although it is possible characters don't realize ICly - pregnancies are impossible.

Misc [^]
Will there be events in Purgatorium?
From time to time, there will be events within the city, both mod and player run, depending on the event and who comes up with it. Everyone will be told of them well ahead of time, so that all can prepare. Please note that participating in these events is entirely optional. If you don't want your character to get involved in something, then you don't have to.
What kind of events can we expect in Purgatorium?
A list of past events can be found here
I don't like the plots or want to see something done in Purg. who do I talk to about that?
A post to request or suggest plot ideas is here. Comments are screened so keep that in mind when replying, anything you might have posted before will be invisible to you if you're looking at the entry from a different journal.
How come I can't post tags in the community for my character?
Only mods can edit or add tags. If you want any new tags for entries post a comment here.
There IS a PIMP tag for anyone Instant Message communication going on ICly. It will have anything pertaining to the PURGATORIUM INSTANT MESSAGING PROGRAM. PIMP.
Is there a list of wanted characters I might check to see if I'm interested in any of them?
Although this list remains intact for the moment, no 'wanted' characters will be joining the game as it is strictly for previous characters only at present.
Is there a limit to how many characters I can play?
Purgatorium has never had a character limit. As this is a dressing room setting there is no reason for any character limit. As long as you can keep up with however many characters you plan to play, we don't mind. Please note, that although this is a dressing room in regards to activity and multiple characters everyone is still required to submit an application to join the game. The purpose of this is to assure that only those actually interested in playing join the community and keep players from bringing in a bunch of characters at once that never get any use.
What are the rules regarding going on hiatus?
There are no activity checks, so there will be no particular rules on length of hiatuses. However, there is still a hiatus post to comment when you know that you'll be gone for an extended period of time.
Am I allowed to apply for two characters in the same fandom?
Yes, forms are being accepted for new characters. If you've already played in Purgatorium or have a friend that can invite you, feel free to bring in more than one character from the same fandom.
What about applying for original characters?
Any character that was already accepted into Purgatorium will be allowed in the dressing room. Please direct any questions about playing new OCs to the mods.
I dropped a character, and decided I want them back. Do I need to reapply?
Yes, simply use the application form for previous characters and you'll be accepted as soon as a mod can get to it. Be aware that the guidelines for how characters are accepted may change if it is determined necessary in the future.
My old application disappeared off of the applications page!
In this case, the application has been deleted or screened. If you'd like to know if an application you can't see is still on the page, please contact a mod.
